Overview
You may need to know where Incydr stores your data in order to plan for disaster recovery, or to meet privacy compliance requirements. This article describes where your data is stored.
Considerations
- Data is always encrypted when in servers in our data centers as well as when in transit. For more information, see Incydr architecture.
- To enforce secure access to your data, ensure that firewalls are open only to designated ports. See IP addresses and ports used by Incydr.
User and device data
User and device data is stored in data centers hosted by Amazon AWS. The geographical location of the data centers varies based on the URL of your Incydr cloud environment. For a list of all locations, see Incydr cloud locations, names, and URLs.
File activity metadata
Incydr collects metadata about file activity to provide details and context for file events. For information about the kind of metadata collected, see Introduction to Incydr.
File activity metadata is stored in data centers hosted by Amazon AWS. The AWS data centers are in the same regions where your Incydr cloud is located:
- United States
Metadata is stored in AWS regions in the United States (for example, us-east-1). - European Union
Metadata is stored in AWS regions in the European Union (for example, eu-west-1).
For more information about AWS data storage regions, see the article Amazon Cognito Identity endpoints and quotas.
Files
Insider risk agent
Exfiltrated file contents and files added to a case are stored in data centers hosted by Amazon AWS. The geographical location of the data centers varies based on the URL of your Incydr cloud environment. For a list of all locations, see Incydr cloud locations, names, and URLs.
Backup agent
Incydr backs up files from your computers and stores them in destinations within data centers hosted by Amazon AWS .
While AWS keeps the precise location of its data centers confidential to ensure security and maintain privacy, the naming convention that Incydr uses for its destinations provides the general geographical location of the AWS data centers used. For example:
- "AP": Asia-Pacific
- "EU": European Union
- "US": United States
Following are examples of destination names:
- Code42 Destination AP Southeast 1
- Code42 Destination AP Southeast 2
- Code42 Destination EU Central
- Code42 Destination EU West
- Code42 Destination US East
- Code42 Destination US West
For more information about AWS data storage regions, see the article Amazon Cognito Identity endpoints and quotas.
