This article provides an overview of the latest enhancements in the Search and Discover feature. The rollout of these new capabilities is phased, ensuring that all users receive the updated version. Once this is achieved, all related articles on Search and Discover will be updated accordingly.
These new features are designed to enhance user efficiency and provide more options when conducting searches in Aware. However, the fundamental aspects of Search and Discover remain unchanged.
Search by Sources
Using the Search by sources feature gives you greater control over the types of messages that are displayed when you conduct a search. This feature enables you to search through a combination of different sources, such as:
- Direct Messages.
- General Channels.
- Public Channels.
- Private Channels.
When configuring your search, you'll find this option under Content Platforms.
Search by Content-Type
When you're performing a keyword search, there might be instances where you want to limit your search to only messages, files, or perhaps exclusively within messages. To streamline your search to particular content types, you can make use of the Choose Content Types section.

Search DMs Between Multiple Participants
There may be instances where your search is focused on finding conversations between certain individuals. With the introduction of the DM conversations Search feature, you now have the ability to locate conversations that are either between specified users or include the specified users in the conversation.
Search Between Participants
The search function will return results for dialogues that exclusively involve the entered participants. For example, a search for 'John' and 'Priya' will yield results for all conversations between John and Priya exclusively. To search between participants:
- Create a new Search and add an appropriate description.
- Select DM Conversations for the Search Type.
- Select the appropriate content platforms (if necessary).
- Under Search Criteria, ensure that Between these Participants is selected. Continue to add the email addresses of the users you wish to search for.
- Add keywords and time frame if desired and run your search.
Search Conversations that Include Participants
The search functionality will generate results for discussions where the inputted users are participants. This includes conversations with additional users. For example, a search for 'John' and 'Priya' will yield results for dialogues that include both John and Priya, along with any other participants. To search conversations that include participants:
- Create a new Search and add an appropriate description.
- Select DM Conversations for the Search Type.
- Select the appropriate content platforms (if necessary).
- Under Search Criteria, ensure that Includes Participants is selected. Continue to add the email addresses of the users you wish to search for.
- Add keywords and time frame if desired and run your search.
Keyword AND Statements
When a search requires you to find messages that contain multiple keywords, but not necessarily within a certain proximity, the new keyword AND statement function will allow you to exclusively search for messages containing both keywords. To activate this feature, you will use the All Keywords (AND) Search Criteria.
Wildcard Search
A wildcard search enables you to find different word endings from a root keyword. Add an asterisk (*) to the end of a keyword to return all variable endings that include the original keyword. This can be helpful in discovering content that may be related to your keyword search terms, without being required to enter every keyword variable when creating your search.
The keyword car* will yield results for car, as well as cars, cards, carbon, and carbohydrate, but will not return sidecar for instance.
There is a limit of 20 keywords when performing a search. Using a Wildcard Search can confine the number of terms you need to enter.
