Advance notification: End-of-life timeline for Code42 legacy agent

This is an advance notification for the Code42 legacy agent end-of-life. The legacy agent has been replaced with significantly better technology.

The Code42 legacy agent is the combined application installed on user devices responsible for both insider risk monitoring and backing up user files. User devices running Code42 app 11.x and earlier are using the legacy agent. 

Improved capabilities and performance

Code42's new Incydr agent has dramatically lower CPU consumption, increased capture rate of files, and unlocks new features such as real-time blocking and Git monitoring over the legacy agent. The legacy agent is replaced by this new insider risk agent and a separate backup agent, which are available through the agent modernization process. The agent modernization process ensures that upgrading to the new agents is easy and simple, providing you with an improved and more efficient solution. This new agent technology is an exponential upgrade over the legacy agent which is being discontinued.

End-of-life timeline

• November 1, 2023 – End-of-Support: The Code42 legacy agent will no longer be updated with enhancements, bug fixes, or to support new operating systems.
• April 10, 2024 – End-of-Life: The Code42 legacy agent will stop functioning completely:
  • Security monitoring and backups will stop
  • New devices cannot register
